A Note From Amy

This project started because my father, a paying Anthropic Claude Max subscriber who has lived in California for a little over a year and plans to stay long-term, was locked out during an active workflow before any clear warning or specific explanation arrived.

The initial notice used internal-investigation and suspicious-signals language, revoked access to Claude, and pointed to an appeal form. It did not say which exact policy, action, evidence, or signal was at issue.

The appeal route was a Google Form. During the three to four week wait, he sent multiple follow-up emails asking Anthropic for an update. No human ever responded.

The final reply still appeared automated. It said Anthropic could not reinstate the account because of a Usage Policy violation. It did not say which policy was violated. It did not give specific facts. It did not offer a real path back.

After the lockout, he also had no channel to view or export prior Claude conversations. That made project handoff and continuity extremely difficult. Paid users should not lose access to both the tool and their own work history without a clear reason, a real appeal, and a way to recover their data.

That is not a real appeal. That is the lockout this project exists to challenge.

This first story names Anthropic because it is the first-party record we have permission to share. The campaign's demand is broader: every AI platform should give clear reasons, real appeal review, data access where possible, and a meaningful path back.

Initial Notice

The notice pointed to policy, but not to a specific act.

    Before Lockout

    My father was a paying Anthropic Claude Max user. Prior Claude conversations were part of ongoing work and project continuity.

    The Ban

    The account stopped working during an active workflow before any clear warning arrived. The notice said, in part: "An internal investigation of suspicious signals associated with your account indicates a violation of our Usage Policy." It revoked access and pointed to an appeal form, but did not identify the exact policy, action, evidence, or signal.
